PEARLIE HARRIS
MC, Poet, Author, Radio Host & Founder of Pearl’s Book’em Publisher
An accomplished and influential MC, poet and publishing industry entrepreneur, Pearlie Harris, known to her fans as The PEARL, has proven to be one of the southeast’s most valuable voices. As a poet and lyricist, her perspectives on love and hate, relationships, friendships and spirituality have captivated listeners from Atlanta to Paris. As a leading businesswoman and innovator, her words of wisdom and entrepreneurial spirit have helped to inspire, motivate and catapult other poets to success.
Born in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, Harris began writing at an early age and over time, her gift evolved. While she majored in Mechanical Engineering at Auburn University and E-Business at University of Phoenix, she was still drawn to the art of creative expression. Despite many of the barriers that poets and hip-hop artists face, Harris embarked on the path to develop her craft even further. Her passion for poetry and perseverance soon paid off, and with three releases under her belt, including, “An Expression,” “Love Hustle Hate,” and the soon-to-be released “The EM-Press,” she’s proven herself to be one of the region’s most talented writers and storytellers, with a gift for capturing her audiences’ soul and transforming and elevating their perspectives on the world.
Harris has been compared to Da Brat, Lauryn Hill and Nikki Giovanni, all icons in their own right. As a poet and MC, Harris has made an indelible mark on the industry, and continues to make strides as the founder of Pearl’s Book’em Publisher, one of the southeast’s most progressive independent publishing companies. Harris launched Pearl’s Book’em Publisher in 2000 to give new voices a stage and an audience when larger, mainstream literary agencies and publishing houses would not. The company has published and produced the works of more than a dozen poets, and has earned a reputation as a thriving enterprise that champions true artists and opens doors for the next generation of poets and lyricists.
In addition to running her own publishing company and writing and producing her own material, Harris is currently the co-host of “The Think Tank" on 1420AM WATB. Every Tuesday evening, she interviews some of the nation’s most celebrated poets and shares her insights into the industry.
Pearlie Harris is currently based in Atlanta, Georgia. She can also be seen on stages throughout the city, sharing her work with the region’s poetry and hip-hop lovers. For more information or booking, call 678-368-6657 or visit www.book-pearl.com. |
